Avnet will collaborate with Amazon Web Services
Through a new global strategic collaboration agreement, Avnet and Amazon Web Services (AWS) are focused on helping original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of IoT solutions accelerate their time to market. This multi-year joint investment will enable Avnet’s IoTConnect platform to deliver the breadth and depth of AWS’ service portfolio, creating a scalable and secure platform that pre-configures AWS services for application-specific use.
Avnet’s IoTConnect platform helps OEMs designing connected solutions overcome time-to-market, scalability, reliability and security constraints. Today, many OEMs are lean organizations that must continue to invest in resources that deliver differentiated value and provide expertise to their market. Adding cloud-connected experiences to their product offerings often puts a strain on these organizations, as the IoT requires additional software, security, and cloud management skills. Having access to pre-integrated, abstract capabilities that they can easily assemble and deploy can dramatically speed up their efforts and reduce overhead.
This strategic collaboration enables Avnet’s IoTConnect platform to access AWS’ portfolio of services, including IoT, machine learning, analytics, and compute services. Avnet customers will soon have access to an aggregated IoT development experience on AWS services, including AWS IoT Core, AWS IoT Greengrass, FreeRTOS, AWS IoT Analytics, and AWS IoT SiteWise.
The collaboration between Avnet and AWS will benefit OEMs by providing: (a) device provisioning, configuration and lifecycle management, (b) multi-layered security, (c) multi-protocol connectivity, (d) integration of third-party services, API gateway, SDK, (e) Business Intelligence (BI) with data monitoring, analytics and notifications, (f) Pre-built business applications. This allows OEMs to focus on developing features and applications that truly improve their connected products and speed time to market.
Work with major hardware manufacturers
Powered by AWS, Avnet’s IoTConnect platform will provide advanced features such as pre-integrated edge-to-cloud hardware designs and secure lifecycle identity and device management. It will also provide OEMs with seamlessly scalable end-to-end solutions that include hardware-independent edge designs, as well as custom business applications and analytics. All of these features will be delivered through a single aggregated experience through Avnet’s IoTConnect platform that enables OEMs, system integrators and software developers to secure, monetize and support end customer solutions.
“Today, Avnet lives at the intersection of connected technology, working regularly with leading hardware manufacturers and expanding our expertise at the edge and in the cloud. With our help, OEMs don’t have to go it alone to deliver simple, fast, and secure IoT implementations,” said Lou Lutostanski, vice president of IoT at Avnet. “Our collaboration with AWS will help OEMs design, build, deploy, and manage cloud-connected devices, applications, and solutions at scale.
