Blue Oval City plans production in 2025
HAYWOOD CO., Tenn. (WMC) – Blue Oval City officials say you can expect the first electric cars to roll out of their manufacturing plant in 2025.
The $2.5 billion project will be Ford Motor Company’s largest project in history, and it’s happening right here in the Mid-South.
Blue Oval City will be a factory for manufacturing electric vehicles – an industry that continues to prove itself after the recent passage of the Cut Inflation Act, offering tax credits to those who invest in energy own.
“Blue Oval City is this opportunity for Ford to be a leader in this electric vehicle revolution,” said plant manager Kel Kearns.
Six thousand employees will be needed to run the plant. Officials say they are confident they will meet this need despite the continued shortage of workers.
“Obviously we have a lot of work to make sure we have all the people we need to support the things we have going on,” director Ermal Faulkner said. “But we think these are going to be really, really good jobs that people want. We have a lot of excitement coming our way.
Municipal leaders outside and inside Haywood County say the plant’s addition to the community is something they look forward to.
“This is going to affect the entire West Tennessee area,” Brownsville Mayor William Rawls said. “We are looking at ancillary jobs, tier one, tier two factories that will change the atmosphere. West Tennessee will never be the same again. The population growth, the quality of life we are seeing, and the jobs that are coming to our community are nothing short of amazing.
An additional 5,000 jobs will also be available for two battery plants in Kentucky that will be an extension of Blue Oval City in Haywood County.
