Fanatec BMW M4 GT3 Sim Podium Racing Steering Wheel sells out in minutes

We were there, all ready to write an article on FanatecThe revolutionary BMW M4 GT3 Podium steering wheel for simulation racing is now available to order, and the first batch went almost immediately.

When pre-orders were available again a day later, the earliest delivery date is September 21, 2022.

To be clear, this is not a cue. The exact same wheel used in the real BMW M4 GT3 racing car can also be used for simulation racing. In fact, every wheel on the M4 GT3 is made by Fanatec, the market leader in simulation racing.

After being initially revealed in december 2020, the prices were announced in November 2021, well below the expected € 5,000.

Pre-orders went to live on December 20, 2021 for € 1,399.95 / $ 1,399.95. The first allocation is completely used up a few minutes after the landing page goes live.

It just shows the pent-up demand for high-end and premium racing gear, especially something as unique as this item co-developed by Fanatec BMW.

The BMW M4 GT3 Podium steering wheel features 12 forward-facing buttons that include LED backlighting, two quick-access rear buttons, magnetic dual-action (push / pull) shift paddles, 1 ″ OLED display for telemetry data and a gold anodized QR1 on the wheel side. The new ‘QR2 Wheel-Side’ assembly is also included in the price, to be delivered separately when available.

It is compatible with PC and PlayStation devices, and rolling bases such as the superb CSL DD and the new Gran Turismo DD Pro as well as the existing CSL Elite and Podium DD1 / DD2 devices. Those on Xbox are unfortunately unlucky.

This seems to be the ideal wheel for driving the M4 GT3 in Assetto Corsa Competizione.
