Fire damages Mundelein manufacturing plant
A fire Sunday night at a Mundelein manufacturing plant caused approximately $ 100,000 in damage and is still under investigation.
Fire Chief Bill Lark said firefighters notified at 8:44 p.m. by the building’s fire alarm arrived to find thick smoke coming from the building in the 600 block of Tower Road.
It took firefighters almost an hour to put out the blaze due to the size of the building and the amount of smoke. No one was inside at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
Lark said the building’s sprinkler system was preventing the fire from spreading any further than it did.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but does not appear to be suspicious, Lark said.
Firefighters remained on site until shortly after midnight to perform overhauls and check for hot spots.
