Jindal Steel to set up rail wheel manufacturing plant in Chattisgarh
Jindal Steel & Power (JSP) will set up India’s first railway axle manufacturing plant at its Raigarh factory in Chhattisgarh, the company said in a statement on Friday. JSP collaborated with GIFLO Steel – Hungary for this ambitious project.
The Technology Collaboration Memorandum of Understanding was signed between GIFLO Steel – Hungary and Jindal Steel during the “India Hungary Business Forum” organized by the Embassy of Hungary with FICCI in the nation’s capital on May 27, 2022. The plant will have an initial capacity of 25,000 axles per year Jindal Steel will also install a rail forging unit for asymmetric rails which are used in railway switches, especially for high-speed railways.

“With its expertise and understanding of the nuances of rolling rails, JSP strives to meet our country’s demand for different grades of rails while maintaining international quality and safety standards. Our Raigarh Railway Plant has been supplying top quality rails to various running Indian Metro and Railway projects,” added Mr. VR Sharma.
JSPL is the only producer of Head Hardened Rail 1080 HH and 1175HT grades for heavy axle load over 25 tons and high speed application in the country. JSPL also produces rails in R 260 and 880 grades for 60E1, ZU 1-60 and 60E1A1 profiles. JSPL also provided R350 HT quality rails for overseas customers
