PayPal appoints John Kim as Chief Product Officer
Former Expedia Marketplace President Brings Extensive Product Management and Technical Experience to PayPal

(NASDAQ: PYPL) today announced that Jean-Kim will join the company as Executive Vice President (EVP), Chief Product Officer (CPO), effective September 26, 2022. Kim brings unique skills and experience in creating fundamental consumer products and markets from the ground up. Throughout his career, he has led the development of innovative products to compete and win in rapidly changing competitive markets. Kim succeeds the current CPO, Marc Brittowho will remain with PayPal for a transition period, before retiring at the end of this year.
Kim joins PayPal after a decade at Expedia Group, where he most recently served as President of Expedia Marketplace. In this role, he oversaw strategy, product, technology and operations for all of Expedia Group’s business lines – including accommodation, air travel, car, cruises and activities – bringing to life Expedia products for its customers and suppliers. Previously, Kim served as President of Platform & Marketplaces, where he led the development of artificial intelligence, user experience, search, e-commerce, marketplaces and performance management, and oversaw the data and development platforms that power Expedia Group’s two-sided marketplace platform.
Earlier in his career, Kim served as President of HomeAway/Vrbo after its acquisition by Expedia Group, then President of Vrbo. At Vrbo, Kim led the company’s transformation from a subscription-based advertising model into a modern e-commerce business powered by data science and technology. Prior to Vrbo, Kim held the position of Product Manager at Expedia. He has over two decades of experience in enterprise-backed startups, midsize companies, and globally recognized brands such as Yahoo!, Overture, Accenture, Bank of America, and Pelago.
In his role as senior vice president and chief purchasing officer of PayPal, Kim will lead the product and engineering teams for consumers and merchants. Along with his product leadership and engineering teams, he will work to advance PayPal’s position as a leader in digital payments and commerce for consumers and merchants around the world.

Kim’s appointment marks the newest addition to PayPal’s leadership team among several key hires this year, including chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen in August and director of information Archana (Archie) Deskus in March.
