Province Supports New Manufacturing Facility in Dundalk

MPP Rick Byers addresses the public at Southgate Eco Park in Dundalk on August 12, 2022 as Premier Doug Ford looks on.

Premier Doug Ford was in southern Gray County on Friday to tout the announcement of a new manufacturing facility.

The provincial government says it is supporting an investment of more than $14.8 million by Greenlid to build a new plant in Dundalk that will bring the company’s production to Ontario.

The Ontario government is providing funding of $500,000.

Greenlid makes single-use compostable products, such as plates, coffee cups and lids from fiber-based materials, according to company CEO Morgan Wyatt.

Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Rick Byers was on hand for the announcement, saying Greenlid was “an important organization in Gray Bruce that generates economic activity, with a strong focus on environment. It’s an exciting business, and we’ll watch it grow and prosper.

The investment will build a 60,000 square foot facility in Dundalk’s Southgate Eco Park.

Until now, the manufacturing of Greenlid is done in China.

By building a facility in Ontario, it would also bring the supply chain to Ontario.
