Teknor Apex launches new manufacturing facility in Germany


Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Germany – Teknor Apex Co. has completed its “state of the art” production facility in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, increasing its capacity to manufacture custom compounds.

The 50,000 square meter facility is also home to a new European center of excellence for plastics research and development, Teknor Apex said in a Sept. 27 statement.

The site produces thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) and engineering thermoplastics (ETP), ranging from general purpose compounds to “highly specialized formulations,” according to the US compounder.

The company’s statement did not provide details on the size of the investment or the production capacity at the site.

The facility has an “extended lab,” which Teknor Apex says will be used to develop new compounds and provide customers with design support, application development, as well as product and product training. the process.

The site creates more than 100 jobs in manufacturing, business support and business operations.

According to the preparer, the new facility was built with a strong emphasis on environmental sustainability and holds ISO 14001 – environmental management and ISO 50001 – energy management certification.

The factory uses LED lights, closed loop water system, heat recovery systems with heat pumps to support it.
