Xiaomi Smart Factory Phase II expected to start production by the end of 2023 – Pandaily

On Wednesday morning, Lei Jun, the founder, president and CEO of Xiaomisaid on Chinese social media that the second phase of the Xiaomi Smart Factory is expected to go into production by the end of next year. This large smart factory is designed to achieve an annual production capacity of 10 million high-end mobile smartphones.

Lei Jun said that the Xiaomi Smart Factory (Phase I) is a laboratory-level factory, and most of the equipment and systems are developed by Xiaomi and the companies in which Xiaomi invests.

The Phase I part of the factory is located in Yizhuang, Beijing, and covers an area of ​​18,600 m². It has a full-process automatic production line and is one of the leading smart dark factories in the whole industry. The “dark factories” can achieve automatic manufacturing without lighting throughout the production, management, processing and packaging of machinery, storage and transportation.

Outside the high-end smartphone production line, the Xiaomi Smart Factory also plays an important role in R&D of new processes, pre-research projects, benchmarking of standard process results, and R&D of automation equipment.

Xiaomi began construction of its Smart Factory (Phase II) in Beijing’s Changping District last July. According to previous information, this factory covers an area of ​​58,300 sqm and carries the second generation smart smartphone production line, including SMT patch, board test, assembly, whole machine test and packaging of the finished product. It is estimated to have an annual output of 10 million smartphones, with a production value of around 60 billion yuan ($8.9 billion).
